BIG BOY ALERT!
If you've been looking for a cat who is large and in charge, full of affection, and incredibly handsome with a great personality, Burgermeister is your guy.
Burger was picked up for a TNR clinic, but he told everyone there that he was a friendly guy who wanted to be an indoor kid (though he would enjoy a secure catio). Burger is a hefty 14.5 lbs. of pure muscle and love. His favorite things are being pet on his big head, eating churus, cuddling, and catnip toys. He is estimated to be around 5 years old and is in good health with great litter box manners. He is scheduled for a dental procedure in early March to take care of some yucky teeth, but he is ready for a meet-and-greet now!
Burger has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which just means that he has a suppressed immune system. He needs to be an indoor only cat and should see the vet right away if he gets sick - pretty much what you'd want to do with any cat - and most FIV cats live as long as cats without the virus. FIV is only contagious to other cats via deep, penetrating bites, so friendly kitties aren't at risk. Also, for some reason, most FIV cats are just way more loving and affectionate than the average kitty - it's certainly true for Burger! His foster is very passionate about FIV kitties and is happy to explain more about FIV if you'd like.
Burger is comfortable with other cats and with cat-friendly dogs. He should be fine with calm, cat-savvy children. He would also be perfectly happy as your one and only pet.
Burgermeister is being fostered in Conifer, CO, and is ready to meet his new people! Check out more of him and his foster buddies on Instagram @KittyCatClimberGirl.
Foster: BS
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives!
$300 for purebred/highly requested kittens, 6 months or younger, such as Siamese mixes, Maine Coon mixes. These 'guardian kittens' help support our rescue work by covering vet costs for other kittens.
$200 for purebred/highly requested cats older than 6 months such as Siamese mixes, Maine Coone mixes. These 'guardian cats' help support our rescue work by covering vet costs for other kittens.
$200 for kittens (6 months & under)
$125 for cats (older than 6 months)
$75 for senior cats (8 years or older)
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application here . We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!
Please email
[email protected] for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Our adoption process is:
1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.
2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
