My Story

*** If you have any questions or would like to meet any of our adoptable cats, email [email protected]. Please include a cell number and check your SPAM folder if you do not receive a timely response. Citrus is a young mama that came in on transport from a high kill shelter with a litter of 4 month old kittens, all of whom had terrible URIs. As she was in transport, she gave birth to another litter of kittens where sadly only two of the six born survived due to the respiratory infection. She was obviously a little traumatized by this whole ordeal of being separated from one litter of kittens and most of her 2nd litter passing. In the beginning she was very fierce and protective of her remaining two kittens. Giving Citrus time and patience and a feeling of security in helping her babies get healthy really helped her personality to flourish. She is very independent and she knows what she likes. While she always wants to be present in the space you're in, she does not necessarily want to be a lap cat. She likes being held and getting her chin scratched, but she does not like being pet down her back or tail. She is fine with dogs and other cats, but she is definitely an alpha cat and would be perfectly happy as an only child. She is playful and intelligent and loves to cuddle into baskets and lay in the sunshine. She is full of personality and is unashamed of who she is. She would be a perfect cat for someone who wants a companion, but not one in your business all the time. She enjoys her personal space and would be best in a home without children as she has no problem sending a message when she is done being loved on. She needs someone who can let her be herself and give her a sense of safety and comfort that she was most likely lacking before she joined the NAWS program. Want to help care for her while she waits to find her forever home? You can be a "Sponsor!"
