My Story

Cat located in this city: Daytona
Cat’s Name: Cosmo
Cat’s Age & Sex: three years old male
Cat’s vetting history (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped): neutered, rabies in 2021, microchipped
Animals story: (where found and reason for wanting to rehome): My neighbors moved and left their cats behind.. They were not fixed so I got them spayed/neutered and vaccinated and found them all homes, except one. - Cosmo…. He is such a sweet boy but know I need to find him a home to give him more attention.
I have serious cancer and am undergoing radiation and chemotherapy. I am getting to the point that it is difficult to give Cosmo the loving care he needs. There are several cats in the household, but Cosmo is MY loving cat. The other cats are my wife and daughter’s and they tend to pick on Cosmo so I am concerned that if something happens to me Cosmo will not have the best forever life… I want to make sure he goes to a home with NO bully cats.
Personality (shy, social, likes to be held, lap cat? Likes or dislikes): I put Cosmo in the “social” category as he likes people and other cats though he is a little leery when new people come around, but he walks up to newcomers after 30 minutes or so. He is my lap cat, sits on the couch next to me and watchs TV, sleeps with me most nights. He is a social and interactive cat, though at times he’s independent as most cats are… he has always been an indoor cat and has no health issues.
Any Supplies that go with pet (food, litter, leash, cat box, bedding, toys): I will put together a starter kit for the adopter
What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet):he likes to eat Purina cat chow and gets a little bit of wet food each day of different varieties
*****however, I just learned how important wet food is in a cats diet. Hopefully in new home you can limit the overly processed dry food and give more wet food (at least 3-4 oz. A day).
:::::::::::Please know that cats need canned wetfood given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too! Limit the overly processed dry foodand ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this).

*Please know, that when you bring your newly adopted cat or kitten home, it is always BEST to place him/her in a very small room (bathroom works great) with their litter box, food, water, and bed for a few days to a few weeks. This way the animal can adjust much quicker and get acclimated to the new environment with less stress. All cats/kittens need time to adjust, so if you adopt please allow this. Thank you.
