Meet DERRINGER, a handsome gray and white kitty who is about 5 years old. Derringer is a big boy, about 12 pounds of muscle. Derringer is still figuring out how to fully embrace human affection. He can be a bit cautious when meeting new people, taking his time to check you out before deciding you are okay. But once he gets comfortable, he has moments of playfulness and enjoys chasing toys on a cat wand. Derringer is content to peacefully co-exist with other cats, but he’d much rather be the only feline in the house, where he can soak up all the attention (and treats!). He is a treat-motivated kitty, so if you are willing to earn his trust with a little patience and some tasty snacks, he will be your best buddy in no time. Derringer would do best in a cat-savvy home with older children. He is looking for a family or individual who understands his need for space and his gradual approach to building bonds. Since Derringer is already neutered, he is ready to go home with you right away. Please use DERRINGER’s intake number (A058112) when making inquiries at the shelter. All cats available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up-to-date on their routine vaccinations will be microchipped. All unaltered cats must be spayed or neutered before they can go home with you. Animal Services Fee Flexibility Program · Any animal that has been available for adoption for more than 15 days, the overall fee for the adoption will be 50% off. Please note that the stray/wait period does NOT count toward the 15 days. · Overpopulation: We are limited to 21 dog kennels and 34 cat cages. When either of these get to 80% full or above, the total adoption fee will be 50% off. · The 55-5-5 program: Any adopter over 55 years old adopting any pet over 5 years old will pay a total adoption fee of $5.00.
