Emerald

Emerald's journey began as a feral cat, rescued by a kind-hearted Good Samaritan who couldn't bear to release her back into the wild behind an apartment complex. That's when she reached out to us, and Emerald's transformation began. Emerald has been in foster care for over a year, where her dedicated foster mom has patiently worked to help her gain confidence. Thanks to that loving care, Emerald has made incredible progress. She now enjoys sleeping either behind her foster mom's head or tucked under her arm. She adores tummy rubs and loves perching at the top of her foster mom's office chair while she works. Despite her progress, Emerald is still very skittish. Loud noises and children frighten her, and she doesn't like being held. She will thrive in a quiet, calm environment with a patient, understanding adopter who's willing to continue working with her. Emerald currently lives peacefully with six other cats-they coexist without much interaction. Her ideal home would be with someone who works from home and has experience with shy or special-needs cats. It's important to know that Emerald spends most of her time on the bed, but it took a full year to reach that level of comfort. In a new environment, she may initially revert to hiding until she feels safe again. Because of the special bond Emerald shares with her foster mom, we are looking for an experienced, local adopter who understands her unique needs.
