My Story

Listen up, my furiends! We are on a mission to help our long-term Scruffy Paws residents find their furever families, and next up, we have nap master - Evie! Miss Evie!!! This 3.5-4-year-old sweetie has been with us for 1087 days. Evie was found outside in the area of Providence, and she was brought in with another cat, who has since been adopted. We don't believe they were related, but when Evie met this other cat outside, she felt way more secure in her presence and continued to follow her. Evie LOVES other cats and is way more comfortable when they are around. She doesn't like playing rough and enjoys being in other cats' company. She loves the laser pointer. Evie can be timid at first and will need proper time to acclimate. But she's not aggressive at all! She enjoys mealtime and head scratches. Touch her back, she might bop you, but doesn't use her nails. She is not a big fan of being picked up. She LOVES her roommates and needs another cat in the home. If the other cat in the home is friendly and outgoing, Evie will follow their lead eventually. She would do best in a quieter home setting. Again, cat(s) are a must! I don't know how she would do with a dog, but she would need one of those respectful dogs that are not all up in your business. This girl needs a chance. Please consider being her chance. She is very low maintenance. Thank you for being so interested in adopting from Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue! If you see this post, we still accept applications for this cat(s)/kitten(s). Please refrain from emailing us regarding availability. All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies, and distemper vaccinations, proof of FIV/feline leukemia testing, flea treatment, deworming, and an exam by a licensed veterinarian. Our shelter hours are by appointment only and are not open to the public. Many of our cats and kittens are located in foster homes. An adoption application MUST be submitted and approved before meeting our cats/kittens. We do this for the safety of our fosters and potential adopters. Our adoption process includes the following: 1. Adoption Application To be considered for this cat(s) or kitten(s), you MUST complete an adoption application: - Through our website (preferred) at www.scruffypawsanimalrescue.org/ - Email a copy to [email protected] - Drop off a hard copy to either of our partner PetSmart locations (Johnston or Westerly) - Mail a hard copy to Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue at 2944 Post Rd. Warwick, RI 02886 2. Veterinary Reference Please call your vet ahead of time to give permission to release records to our adoption team. Out-of-state adoptions typically require an exceptional veterinary reference and are at the discretion of our adoption team. 3. Proof of Home Ownership OR Landlord Approval The landlord's contact information must be provided if renting so our adoption team can seek approval. 4. Home Visit Please make sure you are located in our vicinity. We are based out of Warwick, RI. Due to COVID-19, we are currently doing virtual home visits until further notice. **Please note: Our volunteers try their hardest to contact every applicant in a timely manner but are often overwhelmed with a high volume of applications. Please allow up to two weeks for a response. We ask you to please be considerate and refrain from sending multiple follow-up emails or submitting duplicate applications.
