Harper

Harper was part of a trapping project in an industrial park. Her and her siblings did not seem to have any human contact and with the cold weather and lack of a caretaker, it was decided that Cat Tales would put them in foster care and socialize them. Harper, who has been on the more reserved side seemed to be very interested in becoming an indoor only kitty. She is in a foster home with other kittens (not related) who are confident and social kittens and a dog who doesn’t chase cats, which Harper needed. Harper LOVES her kitty pals and loves to play. Her favorite toys are anything with a bell on a stick that can fly through the air so she can chase and attack it. She also loves feathers on a stick that is placed under something so she can “stalk” it. As far as socialization, it took Harper roughly 3 weeks to feel comfortable in her foster home. She went from hissing/running away/ and hiding in any small space or corner to being a social butterfly who is out and about with her foster humans. She will loaf on the couch with them, watch tv and no longer hides or hisses at all. Harper’s progress has taken lots of hands on and reading her body language. Whomever would like to adopt will need to continue the process. She will need to start off on a buddy room where she can get to know her surrounds and her new people. Harper is not a fan of being approached quickly BUT when she is in a safe spot (comfy bed, cat tree cube or on top of her cage) she loves all the love you give her!! She enjoys butt and chin scritches and really enjoys being combed. She still gets scared, mostly when you go at her to touch or pet her, but she does not go for long…she comes right back as to say, Listen..I like the VIP life but I’ll let you know when I wanna be pet” Harper would do best in a home that is lowkey chill and not a busy hustle and bustle kind of environment. She would also need someone to understand her likes and dislikes as she continues to let down her fur and really embrace the comforts of indoor living.
