My Story

Heartthrob is a clever and mischevious cat; while in shelter care, he is typically aloof and independent, in a home, he would love for his person to pet him all day. Heartthrob is not one for toys but enjoys exploring his space. He knows how to open doors and cupboards! Hearthrob's adoption fee is waived! Hearthrob was diagnosed with a grade III-IV/VI murmur. A cardiac ultrasound was performed and diagnosis is a a stage B1 hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) was diagnosed. HOCM is a genetic disease that causes thickening of the heart muscle as well as turbulent flow of blood through the aorta. At this time, the cat you are adopting is not showing any signs of heart failure. He is currently on a medication called Atenolol to help his heart and will have to be on it life long. He will need a repeat cardiac ultrasound in 6 months to assess progress of his heart disease. Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption?
