My Story

Meet Hokie, the sleek and loving house panther! Hokie's family had this to say about her: "Hokie is a very loving girl with a desire to been queen bee. She would be best in a home where she is the only cat. When no other cats are around, she will sit on your lap or on the back of the chair and wag her tail around your head. She loves to rub up against your legs. Putting a soft blanket on your lap almost guarantees she will sit with you. She loves to be pet and brushed and does great with nail trims." Hokie even lived successfully with a large dog! Hokie returned to the shelter after she had persistent litterbox issues, which was believed to be behavioral and may have been due to the stress of another cat in the home. Sound like the purr-fect addition to your family? Come in and get to know Hokie! If you'd like to meet our available pets, please check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter/adopt
