My Story

Well that’s not a rabbit! Or is it a rabbit disguised as a kitten? Meet Ivy, a super silly 3 month old calico tiger that is looking for a very special home! Ivy was found wandering alone at a local warehouse. One of the workers found her and took her home, after not being able to find her mom or any siblings. She was estimated to be about 4-5 weeks old at that time. The next morning the finder noticed that she was crashing and immediately brought her in to a local vet hospital. Thanks to the amazing vet and nursing staff she was saved from the brink of death due to critically low blood sugar (most likely due to something called “fading kitten syndrome”). The person who found Ivy became quite attached overnight, but they realized that her condition was something that required expert attention that they didn’t have the resources for. Fortunately that day I was working an extra shift and just so happen to be working on Ivy. I offered to take her into the rescue- and here she is almost 2 months later. Unfortunately about 2 weeks ago I noticed that she had a generalized seizure, completely random. My vet ran some bloodwork and did some tests that ruled out some things, but her condition is still a mystery. Thankfully she has not had another seizure since and I am monitoring her closely. I do have to say that Ivy is what we call in the rescue world, a bit “wonky”. She doesn’t play like a normal kitten and she has terrible depth perception and tends to run into things when she gets exited. She is still a bit too young to confirm but I believe she is vision impaired, possibly blind. Despite this she gets around great and seems to be a very happy kitten. Ivy will be with me for another month as she goes through antibiotic treatment. Her vet is treating her for possible infection just in case that is the cause of her vision issues and seizure. After that, I am hoping to find her a forever home. I think she would enjoy having a cat friend or two to keep her company, but she also loves her rabbit friends too!
