My Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lainey is the sweetest girl! She is very wise and mature for her age. She loves to be near her human, helping to open boxes or sit on your lap while you are working on your computer. She will definitely remind you when it is time to take a break and play with a gentle bounce of her paws against your legs. She is very understanding of not using her claws or biting hard if playing with you; you can rub/scratch her head forever and never have to worry about her nipping. She loves to be picked up and cradled upside down to walk around and look at things upside down; she is so funny! You can gently rub her belly if she is sleepy/relaxed, but not when she is in play mode, though again, she is very aware of not using her claws with deadly force like her sister Minka does. She is not afraid of the robot vacuum or the standard vacuum; in fact, she will play and hang out next to the attachment while you're vacuuming; no fear there!
Lainey loves to sit at the window and watch the world go by. She also loves playing in the cat tree, having zoomies, chasing the red dot light, and playing in the cat tunnel. The sound of the squirmel worm bell toy dropping on the ground makes her chatter; she loves those toys! She is also good at playing with her toys by herself. She would probably run on the cat wheel if she had a bigger one that was more comfortable for her (she is bigger/longer than her sister Minka, and the current wheel is a starter wheel for smaller cats/kittens). She loves to cuddle with her human and will be a great best friend. She is sooo sweet.
Lainey could do well as a solo cat if her human was around most of the time or if there was another calm cat in the house, but she would get anxious if she was left alone a lot of the time by herself, so we're looking for a home with at least one other cat or one that will adopt Lainey with her sister.
Lainey's adoption fee is $75. Many cats do so much better in pairs, especially kittens, which is why we offer a reduced adoption fee of $25 for the second cat (or more!). Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/.
The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.
Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we're happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you're looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy.
We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal's behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter.
CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract.
CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it.
