My Story

Meet Lilac! Lilac's mom found a safe spot under someone's porch and had a litter of kittens on July 13, 2024. All of the kittens are gray, Emerald and Lilac have short hair, Goose has medium hair and Handsome has long hair. These kittens have been raised right by their mother and have been socialized in a foster home. They are used to a litter box and have been around a cat-friendly dog, children and other kitties. They are ready for their Forever Homes. From their foster mom: Lilac is a calm kitty. She purrs a lot and loves head and belly rubs. She also likes to sleep in the bed with her foster. The adoption fee for Lilac is $100. All cats and kittens will be tested for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated with FVRCP vaccinations and rabies if 4 months or older, dewormed, given vet-approved flea prevention, spayed/neutered if older than 4-5 months and microchipped. We strive to do all that we can to make sure that we are adopting a healthy and happy kitty into a new home. In addition, all of our cats and kittens are fostered in either a private home or office setting so that volunteers can socialize the kitties, develop good litter box habits and get to know their personalities to make as best a match as possible with an adoptive home! Kitten Adoption Guidelines: A REFUNDABLE Spay and Neuter Deposit of $50 will apply for kittens that are too young to be spayed or neutered at the time of their adoption. You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. Send your application in directly at www.ForThePets.org. You can email us with any questions at [email protected]. This is not a first come process; we try to match the cat or kitten with a home that will be a Forever Home. We are a small group of volunteers that have full-time jobs outside of our volunteer time for the humane society. The time to process an application can vary depending on the availability of the Cat Adoption Team, the information provided on the application (whether it is completely filled out) and the number of applicants for that pet. We try to process them as quickly as possible. All of our cats are indoor cats only unless otherwise specified. We do not approve of declawing and ask that you please educate yourself about the damage this process can do before considering this surgery as it can cause significant emotional and physical effects. We do not fly or ship our cats due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the cat back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered. We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport. If you apply to adopt a cat and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the cat and fill out the paperwork in person. We can't provide individual meet and greet sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have plenty of time for your family and pets to visit with the potential new family member before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
