My Story

Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I have been known to shower my favorite people in love! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! I may enjoy casually batting at a toy mouse every now and then, but my favorite activity is snuggling on my favorite person's lap! Due to possible sensitivity to loud noises and fast movement, Melo would do best in a low-traffic environment. Melo interacts with the observer, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. He displays social, sweet and affectionate behaviors in the shelter. However, due to prior owner history (see separate notes) and a bite/scratch history we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced cat parent home. He may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. We recommend that he go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in possibly getting the zoomies and becoming ramped up or overstimulated as a result, and how to expend his energy routinely and constructively, both physically and mentally. Due to fast movement and noise sensitivity, Melo would do best in a low-traffic home. A volunteer writes: I'm drawn like a magnet to cats with big cheeks, so it's no surprise I beelined it over to meet Melo. I was worried for a moment that I came on too strong, but Melo immediately put all my fears to rest as he folded himself into my arm. With the gleeful extravagance of someone who knows some very cool party tricks, Melo used his little kitty feet to push off his condo ledge. Acting as though my arms were just an extension of the ledge, Melo relaxed the whole front half of his body into me. With those big fluffy cheeks resting in my hand, he cuddled this way and that before peeking up at me to check that everything was ok. I was having the time of my life with this big cuddle bug, giggling at his moves and scratching those fluffy cheeks. I really love everything about the playful and good natured Melo and think that you will too.
