My Story

Meet Merle: The Lone Ranger from “The Outlaws”! Merle is approximately 6 months old. Merle has a huge personality! He is a silly, loveable, and curious kitten who loves his feather toys and hanging out with his siblings & foster mom’s resident cat. Merle is always looking for a good time, good cuddles, and good food. He is the most-likely to make friends & bond with another cat, which is why he is going on a solo tour for adoption. Merle was the last kitten in his crew to be trapped and for the first few days in foster care was a spicy, scared creature. As soon as he knew he was safe, a switch turned and he has been nothing short of a loving, attentive, and sweet kitten. He loves his lower back scratches & head pets. If cats could have jobs, Merle’s would be within waste management, mainly because he intently watches his foster mom clean the litter boxes every day. The sound of the litter being cleaned gets as much of a reaction from Merle as kitty treats and his favorite toys! Merle continues to work on allowing new people into his life. Merle was not socialized or around humans until approximately three months old. Within three months, Merle has made incredible progress that will continue at his permanent home if his new family has patience and time. Merle will be bashful and weary until he is comfortable with his adoptive family. When adopted, it is very important for Merle to remain in a small space to socialize with his adoptive family prior to an open/all-access home. If there is a hiding space, Merle will find it! The payoff of giving Merle time is worth it! He’s a charmer who loves those who love him. To learn about Merle’s story (with siblings Emmylou and Willie, who can can be adopted with Merle as a trio), copy and paste this link: https://tinyurl.com/3wyxs3rf What Merle is looking for in a home: - He’s new to indoor life with humans, so he needs a kind and patient guide to help him continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers make him nervous. - He can get nervous, so he needs a kind and patient guide to help him feel comfortable with new experiences. - He’ll need extra time and TLC to build trust. - He needs a young feline friend to play with and model good cat manners. He has lots of energy and will benefit from plenty of active play time. - He feels at ease in a quiet and calm environment. He needs to live indoors only. - He has a positive history with other cats and will enjoy having a feline friend close to his age. - He needs children to respect his space. All Alley Cat Project’s cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Thank you for your interest in Emmylou and Willie! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt them by filling out this questionnaire: https://bit.ly/ACPAdoptionForm Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Many of our cats receive numerous applications, and we thank you for your patience while we review applications and find the best match. Please do not follow up on your application by phone or email as this will not expedite a response. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we appreciate your understanding.
