My Story
Feeling lonely or stressed? We have your remedy. Meet Morty. He a sleek, young, silver gray, happy guy with an extra-long tail he'll wrap around your leg to feel connected to you.
Monty is a chatty guy. During the day he'll sing out when he can't find you, when he wants a snack, when he's ready for bed or when he wants to snuggle. His foster mom thinks he says "momma," but his foster dad says it's "Hey, dad." Either
way just reply, "Monty, I'm here" and he'll come running.
Found as a stray this sweet fellow never wants to go back outside. He loves having a cat tree next to a window to watch the action at the bird feeders and a hammock at another window to watch squirrels nest building. In foster care, he lived with another cat for three months and their tails would swish in unison while they plotted against the critters.
Monty is looking for a person/ family who wants a cat that will let him snuggle for naps and sleep in their bed. (He'll complain loudly otherwise.) He might not stay all night but he will stay long enough to snuggle in and lull you to sleep, then come back to check on you several times or curl up at your feet or head.
Because he was found with an injury, he spent several months in foster care. He became good buddies with another adult cat, so he could be happy living with another cat-friendly cat if you have at least three litter boxes. He is more than happy to share food and snuggles with another cat but not litter boxes. He has great manners and that includes a box for each of his needs. He will reward you with purrs if you clean his boxes twice a day.
Monty also lived with an older, medium size foster dog. Though not best friends, he accepted him as part of the family and occasionally would lie next to him. He would probably prefer not to live with a dog since he didn't quite understand dog vs. cat play behaviors and could be nervous when the dog tried to initiate play.
Monty did not meet any young children in his foster home, but with his super easy personality, they could be a good match.
He accepts being held, petting, brushing, being picked up and loves being close. Even when he takes his daily naps, he is happy to have company. We have never heard Monty hiss, growl, or even be the boss at playtime. He loves to chase the laser, wand toys of all sorts, jump into empty boxes, chase any ball and hide in tunnels. He loves hide-and-seek with the other cat.
Though Monty is estimated to be about two years old, he isn’t a crazy teenager. With that said, he does get the zoomies every morning and will fly through the house for 30 minutes chasing toys, hiding around corners, racing across furniture and pouncing on objects! Afterward, he settles down to bird watch and takes naps following the sun. The zoomies will be repeated in the early evening.
He would love to live in a house that had two floors rather than an apartment because he loves to run when he is playing, and stairs are great fun, too.
