My Story

If you would like to meet Oatmeal in person, the shelter has visiting hours on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon until 4 pm. Hi, I’m Oatmeal! I’m a one-year-old kitty with a heart full of potential and a story that shows how far I’ve come. I grew up in a colony of stray cats and was rescued by a kind lady who gave me a second chance at life. When I first came in, I was so nervous and shut down—I didn’t know what it meant to feel safe or loved. Thankfully, some very special volunteers spent time with me and my friends, showing us patience and kindness. Thanks to them, I’ve started to come out of my shell! I’m still a little shy, but I’m learning to trust. If you have treats like Squeeze-Ups (my absolute favorite!), I’ll come right up to you. I would do best in a home with another cat or two who can help guide me and show me that everything’s okay. Having feline companions gives me confidence and helps me feel at ease and older kids that will go slow with me :) The streets were my home for so long, and I didn’t get the chance to find love as a kitten. But now, I finally feel hopeful that my forever family is out there. Will you be the one to give me the safe, loving home I’ve been waiting for?
