My Story

Hi! My name is Oreo. Like the amazing cookie I am named after, I’m a little rough on the outside due to some difficult life experiences, but I am soft as can be on the inside! (Actually, my “outside” is soft, too, due to my beautiful thick fur.) I used to be someone’s pet (I was neutered with no ear notch), and a nice woman found me and took care of me. She tried and tried to find my owner, but since I was probably dumped, she finally contacted a shelter. I like it at the shelter now. The people there are very friendly! But it was very scary at first – I didn’t know where I was and had to be in a quarantine room with no windows, so I wasn’t very friendly in return. But the volunteers were patient with me and gave me lots of pets, and now I purr and rub up against their legs when they come in to care for me. I love to play, but most think I am more of a lap cat. However, I am not needy and am content just to be near you. Because of my past, it will take a cat savvy person to know when I’ve had enough pets and just want to hang out and watch what you’re doing or look out the window. A home without small children or other cats would be best. But I would SO much like to find a forever home. Instead of being “milk’s favorite cookie,” I want to be your favorite cat!
