My Story

In for a penny, in for a pound! In my case, that proved to be true. I’m a beautiful, all-black female who was hanging around the backyard of a home in SE Rochester for several weeks this past fall. Unlike many strays, I kept getting bigger. It was obvious that I was pregnant. The woman who lived in the home happens to be a Paws and Claws volunteer, so she knows a thing or two about cats. She just picked me up and brought me inside. The woman posted pictures of me on the neighborhood website as well as “lost cat” sites, but no one claimed me. Three weeks later, my kittens were born. The lady prepared a basket for my babies, but I moved them to another place. She moved them back. I moved them again. It was like a chess match. Once my kittens could move about on their own, the woman put the basket away and got the babies some beds! I was a good mom. After they were weaned, I would continue to groom them, but my foster mom said that I “let them be the main event.” But while they were napping, I liked to crawl into her lap for some much-needed attention. Now that my kittens are big enough to be adopted, I am ready for a home of my own too. Mothering, like fostering, is a lot of work. I’m hoping someone who is kind and loving will be ready to pamper me a bit. You’ll love my sleek, shiny coat and my irresistible, big amber eyes. Kittens are adorable and sweet, but don’t forget that mother cats need loving homes too. Penny would love to be your girl. Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax
