My Story
Approximate Date of Birth: 2/15/2019
Description:
Prince Percy, formally named Perseus, first appeared as a young tomcat hanging out with a couple of draft mix horses. He came from a property with cats used for rodent control and was chased off by an older, mean tomcat. Being skin and bone, attempting to drink water from a stock tank, he was offered food and water. He became a regular visitor, friendly with dogs and humans, but evasive. When seeing us outside, he would announce himself from afar, expecting his food to be ready upon his arrival. If we were indoors and he was hungry, he would sit by the patio door, peeking in and meowing through the glass.
Percy had received minor injuries before, but proved to be a master at avoiding capture. When he appeared with a bloody head wound, the decision was made that he needed treatment and had to be caught. A week later, being more experienced than before, we were finally able to capture him with the plan to TNR.
To our surprise, he immediately embraced indoor life and settled in quickly. He was always a cut above the rest, bringing us kittens in need - one of them even picking up his mealtime ritual - and keeping a watchful eye over his kittens when out and about. Those endearing qualities are a testimony to his loyal, gentle, and affectionate nature. He is a calm boy who is content to lounge on his bed of blankets, seeking attention and food at his leisure. Prince Percy led a life of resilience caring for others, but now is ready for someone to love and care for him.
