My Story

Meet PIXIE! This sweet little specked tabby came to Heartland with her brother, Poe after being found as tiny, 3 1/2 week old, orphaned kittens in August 2024. They were found starving and crying, by their Foster Mom's neighbor on her grandmother's porch, with Momma cat nowhere to be found. The neighbor asked their Foster Mom to hold them overnight, as she planned to take them to the shelter the next day. However, Heartland knew that a shelter was no place for tiny, bottle babies, so they accepted them into the rescue. Due to her tiny size, suggesting that she was the runt when they were found, Pixie was aptly named because she was the size of a tiny pixie fairy or pixel. From the very beginning, both Pixie and Poe have been fearless, confident, outgoing, and friendly kittens with instant purrs and *always* ready for a cuddle. Like normal kittens, they LOVE to play and are often on the go. However, they both *love* to be held and snuggled, and constantly feel the need to give little kisses and/or licks on their Foster Mom's mouth. They've also been known to wrap around your legs while you walk, or raise up on their hind legs while patting your arm, in order to get your attention and let you know that it's cuddle-time. They have such fun and silly personalities. They have done well with the cat-friendly, small dog in their foster home, as well as with the resident kitties. They have also warmed up quickly and affectionately to any human visitors. They seem to view everyone as a new friend to be made. While they love each other and would do great in a furever home together, they are confident enough in personality to go to two separate furever homes, as long as there is a resident kitty already in their adoptive home. (Ie: They would not do well as an *only* cat, thus will not be adopted to a home without a kitty buddy). Beyond that requirement, they would easily adapt to any home that was willing to provide adequate playtime and A LOT of cuddles.Pixie and Poe are both up-to-date on all vetting (Spay/Neutered, FIV/FELV Test - Negative, Rabies/FVRCP/FELV Vaccinations, Microchipped, Dewormed, Flea Treament, etc). Won't you consider adding one or both of these cuddle bugs to your family today? Note: You can visit both Pixie and Poe at Whisker Station Cat Cafe in Kirkwood, MO.
