My Story

***This cat is not with the rescue. We are just trying to help his owner find a great, new home*** Location: Swartz Creek, MI Punkin's mom had a change in living arrangements that wouldn't allow him to live with her so his human sister took him in. Unfortunately, the resident cat is not a fan of Punkin so he is need of a home that is a better fit. Some information about Punkin: -He would do best in a home without young children. Older children would probably be fine as long as they understand that he needs his personal space and they can't hang all over him. -He has not lived with another cat, but has had a very neutral reaction to the resident cat at his human sister's home. Even when she is hissing and growling at him. He just lays down and looks at her. So he may be able to live with another cat with proper introduction. .-He is currently around 25lbs and a healthy weight for him would be between 16 and 18lbs. He is currently on Science Diet perfect weight food and gets a set amount each day to try and manage his weight. -He can be friendly and will rub against your legs for pets, but is not a lap cat. He likes to be near you and will even sit next to you, but never on your lap. When you pet him, he likes to be pet on the head and back of his neck but not his back. He will also only tolerate petting for a couple of minutes. When he's done with you petting him, he will let you know with a small swat or a nip. Sometimes he will just get up and walk away when he's done with being loved on as well. -He likes to have his personal space and do his own thing a lot of the time. No matter where his owner was in the house he could almost always be found curled up in her bed (even under the blankets!) just content hanging out by himself. As he's gotten older, he likes to be around people more often so if you're looking for a friendly cat that wants to be near you but not on top of you all time he's your guy! -He takes some time to warm up to new people, so he may be more aloof in the beginning. He will definitely come around! Punkin is about 11 years old, neutered, litter box trained and negative for FIV and FELV. He will come with some food, a basket of toys, a cardboard scratcher, and can come with a litter box and food bowls if needed. He really is a loving cat. He just needs to have a good place to live where he can be with his people in the house.
