My Story

Rani is a beautiful female Tortoiseshell kitten who was brought to the HSOV on August 6, 2024 along with her sister Melina after they were found in the Newport Ohio area. Rani and Melina were tiny 3-week old babies at the time with no apparent mother in sight. Thanks to two of our compassionate HSOV Kennel Techs (Hayley Sturm and Lauryn Hamilton) who bottlefed Rani and Melina for the next two weeks. Sadly, little Melina was not strong enough to survive so Rani became an 'only child' and sole survivor. Rani has a dark brown-and-orange short smooth coat in a Tortoiseshell pattern, a long tail, and an adorable kitten face with golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers. Rani was given vaccinations and Panacur wormer on October 12, 2024. She weighed just 1.85 lbs that day. Rani was given booster vaccines on October 26th and November 15, 2024. Rani had experienced an ulcer/infection in her left eye when she was a tiny baby, and she may be vision-impaired in that eye .. But it sure doesn't slow her down when it comes to engaging in fun-and-games. We took first 'big girl' photos of Rani on October 14th, and she looked adorable playfully bouncing around our studio and sitting in a wicker basket. Those photos have been printed and will be in her adoption package. Rani and another 'sole survivor' female kitten (Spooky) have been sharing a cage for the past two months or so and have become best friends. They are being listed as a bonded pair since we feel that it is in their best interest to be adopted together. These photos of Rani were taken on December 17, 2024 when HSOV Lead Feline Kennel Tech Lauryn Hamilton accompanied Rani and Spooky in our 'studio' for updated photos. Rani is the ultimate playgirl and enjoyed the simple pleasures of scampering around the fake 'Charlie Brown' Christmas tree and pine branches (which she thought were the perfect new playthings). Rani and Spooky will be spayed (tentatively in late January 2025) before being adopted by their new family.
