Regie

Regie's name is a diminutive form of the French name Régis, which is derived from the Latin word "rex," meaning "king." Regie lives up to his name by spending lazy days on the couch. He is currently the only cat in the home, and we think he would prefer it that way. He does live a mellow small dog, and they are good friends. Regie is about six years old, fixed and current on shots. He loves people, once he gets to know you, and enjoys sitting on your lap. He will ask for treats and enjoys both wet and dry food. He is currently living with foster lady while he waits for a forever home of his own. For reasons unknown, some cats can develop a painful inflammatory condition in their mouth. This is called stomatitis and may be the result of an overactive immune response to plaque and bacteria in the oral cavity. Regie found himself with this condition. The typical treatment is to surgically remove some or all of the teeth to decrease the number of surfaces that bacteria can adhere to. Most cats do quite well after the recovery process, with a notable increase in their comfort level and Regie is now doing great! He has a few teeth left but not many. It was an expensive procedure and Regie considers himself lucky to find a rescue that could help him.
