My Story

*** Sally & Charlie are in a foster home. *** Sally: gray/black tabby w/white, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 7/1/23, #19042 Charlie: brown/orange torbie, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 11/16/23, #19043 Cats: *BONDED PAIR*, only cats Dogs: calm cat-savvy dogs Children: gentle older kids BACKGROUD: Sally and Charlie were living with a kind homeless man in Mexico who wanted a better life for the kitties than he could provide. He had found Charlie in a dumpster though we don't know how Sally first came to him. When they moved into foster care they were both thin and needed some hearty meals and TLC. Now they are ready to find a loving and stable forever home! PERSONALITY: Sally and Charlie are fun and cuddly kitties who love to be petted---it's hard not to fall in love with them! Both enjoy feather wands, catnip toys, cardboard scratchers, tall cat trees, and sunny spots to snooze. ---Sally is extremely friendly and trusting of people. She's small and sassy and she's in charge! This vocal girl loves to be petted and talked to and will sit on your lap for these bonding sessions, though she likes to put herself there rather than be picked up much. She clearly appreciates having your love and companionship and is enthusiastic about life in general. (And food... oh our girl loves her food.) Sally treats Charlie like a younger sister: protective and loving at the same time. She is fond of out of the way napping spots and may seem to disappear; if you have tall cabinets she will climb up to the top, so check there! ---Charlie is long and slinky, but don't let her svelte size trick you: she is very food-motivated and will help herself to your dinner if given the opportunity. She is a sweet kitty who had a bad beginning to life that has made her cautious with new or unexpected situations, though her connection to Sally leads her in the right direction watching her BFF so happy with humans. Charlie loves to be petted gently on her back and head and she likes to cuddle (as a busy girl she's not consistent about this, but Charlie does sleep on the bed with you). While she does prefer you let her keep her paws under her own control, she will purr for food and attention and hang around you to play---playtime is the best! Bring out a laser pointer and Charlie will be dashing around trying to get that elusive red dot. ---Charlie adores Sally and always looks for her; she depends on Sally for guidance and companionship as well as a playmate. They are sisters of the heart and MUST be adopted together. COMPATIBILITY: Sally and Charlie need to be the only cats in their home. Calm cat-savvy dogs who don't chase them would likely be okay; Sally is friends with the resident dog in their foster home. Younger or more rowdy children would not be a good fit, though gentle older kids who treat them with respect could become great friends. Sally and Charlie have had some hard times in their pasts, and it created a tight bond between them. Now they're hoping for a special someone who's looking for some spunky, sweet, and spicy girls... they'll provide a lifetime of affection and meows! While healthy, Sally and Charlie have both tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This is a type of virus that typically causes some weakening of a cat's immune system. It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through casual friendly contact between cats. FIV+ cats can and do live quite normal lives in quality, duration, and happiness. A good informative website is FIVCats.com.
