My Story

"Handsome Salt. I mean come-on, look at the mustache and bib! Shy and shut down when he arrived to Sammie's Friends, he has made huge progress in his foster home. Salt is the brother of Pepper and Molasses (now adopted). He is still a bit nervous around people, but after a few scratches on the head he starts to purr. Salt, Molasses, Pepper, and mom Florentine were tossed from a vehicle on the last California exit before heading into Nevada. This was witnessed by multiple people who pulled over to rescue the cats. After multiple agencies got involved, all the cats were trapped and brought to Sammie's Friends. Salt is finding more and more that he rather enjoys being around people. He still gives out a little baby hiss if we move too quickly but this is remedied by a quick cuddle and some head pats. Salt is going to require some extra effort to properly adjust him to a new home. He's going to need a low speed environment with someone who has a little extra time to invest in growing this relationship! Here is what his foster mom has to say about Salt. “I am currently fostering Salt. (He) has been through so much in his short 10 months on this planet this far! His rough start began with being thrown out of a vehicle onto a busy highway and then being adopted out to someone who" returned (him to) the rescue (thank goodness)." This has created distrust in Salt as far as humans are concerned. We have faith that there is a special person out there for Salt. "This little boy wants so badly to trust", he just needs to be allowed to take his time! "He gets along so well with other cats and warms up to well behaved dogs. He would do best in a household with no young kids as he really needs a calm hand he can trust.” If you think Salt might be your future best friend give us a call today! (Salt is in foster care so arrangements would need to be made.) (530) 274-1955
