When people and their pets lose their home, it’s sad for all involved because they often lose each other. And that’s what happened with Skylar and Max. Fortunately for these two sweet kitties, they were brought to Safe Haven to begin their quest for a new home. The duo got off to a rough start because, as with all our new intakes, they had to be put in a condo (two-story double cage) for two weeks until they are completely vetted. Max was not happy with the arrangement and hissed when we did our feeding and cleaning, while Skylar hid in fear. Fortunately, when they were moved to a community room with lots of friendly cats, they settled down and enjoyed the attention of the volunteers. Skylar was a little shyer at first, but still friendly, approachable, and affectionate once she is confident. She loves to play and has a bit more energy than her mellow companion. When she arrived she had an untreated flea allergy that led to some fur loss but we were able to quickly resolve that problem and her fur is now looking much better Max immediately draws your eye because he is a handsome hunk of a cat who enjoys the attention of everyone who comes into the room. He likes to be petted and brushed and is happy being a couch potato cat. This delightful bonded pair must be adopted together and they will do best in a quiet home, perhaps with older children who have experience with cats, or with a couple or solo adopter, as long as Max and Skylar get loving attention. They will be wonderful additions to your family no matter the size.
