Socks is an 8 year old, loving boy who is a wonderful kitty pet (with one flaw...more to come). We rescued him many years ago after he ran away from a family that left him covered in fleas and mites and was trying to feed him leftover spaghetti. My husband was reluctant to take him in at that time, but he climbed into the engine of our car, thereby forcing his way into our lives. I feel terrible putting Socks up for adoption now because he has been our pet for many years. However, he has become intolerant of the foster animals I raise, and I am hoping I can continue saving lives through fostering while also finding somewhere Socks can be happy.
Unfortunately, even though we keep the rescues in a separate part of the house, Socks smells them and it triggers him to pee. In addition, we have added to our own cat family; when we first adopted we had only 2 other cats and now have 7. We have observed his behavior get worse and we know he would be much happier in a home with far fewer cats!! We now also have a couple of younger cats who really aggravate him, as well as a cat who he bullies. Thus, although I generally say that most cats do better with a companion, Socks is a rare exception who would do best with just one or no other cats.
He is really a PEOPLE cat! He loves to go out every day on his leash. He wears a harness day in and day out so he can hang outside on his leash just like a dog. When he is outside, he greets all the neighbors, dogs walking by, the mailman and whomever. He simply loves to be social. He also loves a lap and will loyally sleep with his human every night.
Socks has been raised with a parrot and has some dog friends in the neighborhood, so I believe he could do well with either in a home. One of the pics shows him and his buddy Yoko, my cockatoo.
I am hoping for a home that wants a wonderful boy to love. I am charging a small $25 fee to make sure he goes somewhere safe. He is fully vaccinated and fixed of course.
