My Story

Softy is a sweet, calm kitty who just wants a quiet place to rest his handsome head. He's the sort of kitty who is always ready for a kiss or a cuddle, but he won't bother you to demand pets. He gets along with all kitties, but would prefer a pal that was polite and calm like him. He will run from kitties who are even a little bit dominant and gets frightened of kitties who want to play too hard. He would make a good companion for an older cat that he would keep a respectful distance from unless otherwise invited, or a cat with a personality similar to his. Softy grew up in a home with a small child, so kids of all ages are familiar to him. He also spent quite a lot of time in a cat cafe where he did well and met all kinds of people. Although he is timid, he warms up to strangers quickly. He is tolerant of busy environments so long as he is not chased. He prefers to be with someone (human or cat), even if he's not interacting with them, rather than be alone. Softy has an extraordinary story. He was in a building with his siblings at Exposition Park that was scheduled to be demolished soon after he was discovered. He was in an area where we could see him, but was inaccessible to humans. To make things more complicated, the area was accessible to his mom by a hole in the wall that was too high up for him and his siblings to reach -- they were trapped! Thanks to some very persistent humans, all four kittens were finally caught and brought to a foster home. (Mamma cat was trapped, fixed, and released.) Months later, he and his siblings went to a cat cafe where he enjoyed meeting all kinds of people and cats. He was adopted and returned soon after because he had developed a rare illness called FIP. FIP was until very recently untreatable and almost always deadly. We treated him with injections daily for three months. He was a brave and patient boy, although he did give us quite a few baleful and sad looks! Softy is a gem of a cat who has survived so much! Will you be the one to fulfill his dreams of a quiet and safe home where he can relax and become part of a family? He promises to return the favor with love, purrs, and his gentle and kind presence!
