My Story

"You *wear* the crown, *be* the crown, you *are* the crown!" Meet Suerte, an absolute diva of Dakin who is looking for a new home to be top tier. She came in to Dakin as a stray cat so we don't know too much about her, but we do know she can be a bit sassy. She loves your attention and will rub against your legs when she wants, but if you pet her too much she'll walk away from you like you offended everything she lives for. She does well with other cats, dogs are unknown, and due to her sassy self she would do best with older kids. Sassy cats are usually confident, intelligent and active. They often don't like to be held, or have places on their bodies that they prefer not to be touched. When handled or petted in ways they do not prefer, they are likely to swat, nip or bite. They will be happiest in adult only homes or those with older kids who understand cats that have rules and will leave them alone. If they are bored then they may get into trouble and often need extra playtime in order to be their best selves. Sassy cats will go home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for EVERYONE in the home to be happy. Typically, sassy cats are not for first-time cat owners. Check out the video included to learn more from our friend Jackson Galaxy about living peacefully with sassy cats! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si-yk1KxYX0 If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us ([email protected]) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
