My Story

Name: Yeti Age: About 5 months Breed: Tabby Reason for being at shelter: Trapped stray Description: He's a good definition of a scaredy-cat. With strangers, his first reaction is to hiss, spit, and swat. He runs away if given the opportunity rather than tolerate being touched. What piques his curiosity are play toys and yummy treats. He will get close enough to get his share of lick'ems then runs away when he's finished, or you move too quickly or try to pet him. He is curious for play but stays on the outskirts for a while. What Yeti really needs is a gob more socialization. Interaction and socialization for him were stunted during a time of recent illness that swept through the shelter. So, about all he knows is that people come to give him medication or don't handle him. That reaction needs to be transformed into what a normal housecat behavior should be. Yeti arriving as a young stray also hindered his social growth. Yeti would not be a good fit for an active household or one with young kids. He would benefit to be adopted into a home with another sociable cat. Yeti is not a kitten for a first-time cat owner but for a more experienced one who will be patient and work with him and allow him the time he needs to blossom. OPHS is appointment only. All potential adopters must fill out an adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to meet the animal. An application can be found on our website using this link https://www.ophumanesociety.org/cat-adoption-application. Please allow 3-5 business days for us to process your application. We are screening the applications for the first BEST fit for each animal. If you are approved, you will be contacted by us via phone or email to schedule an appointment.
