My Story

Amazing that this strikingly handsome kitty is available for adoption! Zazzi is a 1.5 year old white persian cat with bright blue eyes! Yes there are many white cats with blue eyes that have issues with their hearing, but not Zazzi! Our rescuers have had him for over a year in foster care, he is a love bug who loves to be held and cuddled, and he knows his name! Zazzi like many of the cats listed, is currently living with our rescue partners in Egypt, and will likely take the next flight to the USA so that he too can find his "purrever" home! To expedite his adoption, we are accepting applications ahead of his arrival. We have flights from Cairo into the US once a month. Zazzi is one of the many that we are rescuing from the Middle East (there are now over 200) that are part of our international cat rescue mission! This rescue mission has become critical as the conflicts in the Middle East are increasing the number of cats being brought into Egypt by rescues who are fleeing Lebanon and Syria for safety! Like most of our cats who are simply "found" we unfortunately will never know their entire history or why they ended up homeless. We de know that most of these cats are born in pet shops where they are sold for a profit. Many times the kittens are given as gifts but once they get to be too old, their owners just leave them. Zazzi was found at a very young age (between 2-3 months) on the streets seeking food outside a restaurant where the owner was threatening to have him "removed" as he was a nuisance. Our rescue partners thankfully saved him before he was harmed by the humans that despised his presence. He has since lived with his foster mom and several other cats in foster care where he enjoys his playtime and being held like a baby! We do not know if he will do well in a home with dogs, but we can dog test him to see his reaction. *We prefer that adopters with a dog have had their dog introduced to cats in the past (if not already living with cats) so that the dog already knows how to respect a cat's boundaries. Zazzi has been fixed, and is fully vaccinated (1 year rabies and 2 x FVRCP/distemper), she is blood tested negative for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) and FLeV (feline leukemia), he is microchipped, and he has been treated for all parasites. To be considered for adoption for any of our available cats, you must submit an adoption application found on our website below; https://savingfancycats.org/adoption-application Even though our international cats are healthy on the day of travel to the USA, our policy is to hold all cats for approximately 14-21 days at our cattery in New Jersey prior to moving into their new home. This is to ensure the cats do not develop any post travel health issues that we need to treat prior to adoption. All adopters must be willing and able to travel to NJ to meet and pick up the cat(s). We do not adopt outside of a 200 mile radius from our northern NJ base. We read every application that is submitted and it can take us 3-5 business days to respond to most applicants. If we believe you may be a potential match for the cat(s) we will respond to you via email. This email will detail all the next steps required in order for you to be officially approved as an adopter. Our email can easily be flagged as spam/junk so please check those folders for our response. We will ask all potential adopters who pass the first step to submit/complete the following; -2+ personal references -1+ veterinary reference -home interior photos/videos or in person tour -your building's pet policy from management or your landlord (if you rent) -1+ alternative designated caretaker(s) for the cat(s) -scheduled phone interview with a member of our team *General inquiries about any cat cannot be responded to without an application submitted first. If the cat is on petfinder.com the cat is still available. Adoption fee is posted on the pet's profile on petfinder.com (not the app) and it is non-negotiable as it covers all vetting and travel expenses for this cat. What your (tax deductible) adoption fee/donation covers: Spay/Neuter surgery Full vaccinations (2 x distemper/FVRCP and feline rabies) Blood Tests - FIV, FLeV, Heartworm, in some cases additional blood work Anti-Parasitics - all cats are dewormed, treated for fleas/ticks, ear mites. Microchipped - All cats have a registered microchip Travel Passes/Fees- the adoption fee also pays for the cat's travel from Egypt or other country to the USA. *Please keep in mind that a majority of the cats for adoption from the Middle East were found in terrible condition, some requiring extensive veterinary care and/or surgery. We do not increase the adoption fee despite the additional funds used to rehabilitate these cats. **You may see our cats posted on petfinder elsewhere, or other adoption sites with our rescue partners in Canada and Europe! We are working together to find great homes for these cats and move them out of the Middle East to make space for more! If the cat is still on petfinder.com he/she is available but all potential adopters will be notified if their status changes. ***Can't adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring one or more of the cats on our petfinder page so that we can assist our rescue partners with food and litter and proper veterinary care.
