My Story

I’d like to introduce Zena. Zena is 8 years old that has been relocated through no fault of her own. She spent the first 4 years with a family. After four years the daughter decided to place her with her senior mother who expressed an interest in Zena. She lived happily there for 4 more years. The mother went into hospice care a few weeks ago. Zena was moved into my cat-boarding facility until a new home could be found. The original owner did not want to take her back because the other cats in her home were aggressive towards Zena. I have had her for 2 months now. Both Willamette Hospice care and her first owner have not had any success in finding her a place to spend the rest of her live. I am going to work hard to find her a good home for the remaining half of her life--as I have grown very fond of this sweet girl. As I mentioned, she has been with me for 8+ weeks. She started out in a kennel in my boarding facility, PenelopePawPrints. She was so shut down and stressed she wouldn’t eat or interact. I ended up syringe feeding her to get her started - and used an appetite stimulant. She finally began eating but stayed glued to her bed. I then moved her into the guest room in my home. She has been here in the house for a month and has started coming out when I go in there to lay on the bed. She started out just watching me to now laying on top of me for pets and love. This is a gentle cat. Not an aggressive bone in her body. She would not survive in a shelter. Zena needs to go into a quiet home. No children. Possibly another cat with her gentle, mellow temperament. She is in good health having just had a total physical about 2 weeks ago, including bloodwork. Vet said her teeth were good. So …WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PATIENT HOME WITH EASYGOING PEOPLE! People who would welcome the chance to help her by showing her love a care, at her pace. Someone who would be satisfied giving her space and time to once again start loving her owner. Here are a few photos of Zena. Feel free to call me with questions, or to meet her. Be aware though, you won’t see the true Zena in a brief visit. You can see how beautiful she is, but her it will once again take her a few weeks to start to feel secure again.
