My Story

Meet 25Kelty! Approx. 5 years old and 14 lbs Spayed Female Dogs: Yes, prefers calm smaller dogs Cats: unknown, would probably do great Kids: unknown, but 13+ probably ok Crate trained: Yes House trained: working on it Leash trained: Working on it Kelty is a sweet girl looking for a warm lap and a person to love. She can be shy & fearful in new situations, but once she warms up, she will follow her person around and sit in their lap for endless pets of her silky soft fur. She will thrive in a quiet home with secure yard and a patient person to continue to build her confidence in new experiences. She came from a backyard breeder/ hoarding situation where she lived outside with 50+ other dogs and was unsocialized, but she is doing great in her foster home. Kelty lives with two medium sized female dogs in her foster home, but prefers the older dog as she does not seem interested in playing. She could also do well as an only dog and may do well with cats. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night and will be quiet in an X pen if you leave during the day. She is not destructive or a chewer, so once potty training is well established, she could easily be left alone in the house. Kelty is doing well with potty training on a schedule, but she has had a few accidents and does not yet signal when she needs to go out, so she will need continued patience and training. Leash training is progressing and she will walk nicely on the leash until something frightens her and she freezes. She doesn’t love her harness & leash but is becoming more comfortable each day. Car rides in her crate are still scary for Kelty. Kelty is very food motivated and loves to eat! She gets excited for bits of cheese or boiled chicken, and certain dog treats. Super cute with low/medium energy, Kelty will be a great companion! If interested, we recommend submitting an adoption application at: www.foothilldogrescue.org This dog will be available at Saturday’s adoption event at our rescue. Small dog meet and greets are 10:30-12:30 and larger dogs (over 40 lbs.) are from 11:30-1:30. Our address is: 4131 S Shingle Rd suite 14 Shingle Springs, CA Please bring all resident dogs and children that live in the household to the meet and greet.
