My Story

Alvin, the boy with the “old soul,” is one of three brothers, we call the “Chipmunks,” came to rescue with two adult females (one was their mom) and one adult male after being surrendered by a farmer. The dogs were wandering were wandering with other pups who were not so lucky after being hit by cars. The three boys were very malnourished, weak, and lethargic to the point they could not receive vaccinations for a few weeks. Fast forward and the three boys are doing great and loving life in their foster home! Alvin loves playing with toys and his brothers, but equally enjoys relaxing. He currently lives with eight other dogs, and he loves them all! Alvin can be found pulling toys from the toy box, running around the backyard with the other dogs (big and little), or quietly chilling by his foster dad’s feet looking for love and attention. This boy loves everyone he meets! Like his brothers, he thinks whipped cream is just the best treat ever! He hears the squirt of the whipped cream can from across the house or even when he is outside and he comes running, waiting for a squirt in his mouth! His foster mom has been talking to him about improving his manners—especially his burping! This boy would love a home with a secure, 5-foot fenced yard and at least one other canine sibling to play with and a family who would love to spend time with him and continue his training, playing, or just hang out loving on this boy! NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
