My Story

Meet our sweet Annie! Annie, our gorgeous 4 year old Lab Mix, has had a chaotic start in life. She was found as an abandoned puppy in Texas and after moving to Kentucky her owner surrendered her to a rural shelter. She made her way to STAF, but once again, after being adopted her owner was unable to give her the love and attention she deserved and he returned her. Poor girl has been dealt an unfair hand. So, is it any wonder that Annie needs a beat to decide if you are worthy of her trust? Annie is a bit shy. Once you've earned her trust, she is totally devoted. When she sees her best human friends, she will bounce around and even start singing! Finally feeing loved and secure, she is relaxing and enjoying life more each day and we are now seeing her fun and playful side. She loves to romp and fetch and enjoys sitting close and receiving rubbies. That said, she has been at the shelter for far longer than she deserves. Annie loves to cuddle! Annie's best volunteer friend takes her home on occasion. She says that Annie loves sleeping in the bed with her and cuddling on the couch under some blankets. She begins each night laying at the foot of the bed and then will slowly make her way up so that she is close enough to receive belly rubs! Annie is a also a great car companion and walking buddy! She really enjoys going for walks and she is great on leash! She will occasionally get excited if a car or bicycle go by so some minor leash training could help with that! And oh those eyes! Annie has the most amazing light blue eyes imaginable. She is a stunning girl and she receives so many compliments on her beautiful looks! Annie has several doggy playmates at the shelter and seems to do well with dogs of all sizes! She is ready for a home that will give her lasting love and stability. Could that be you?! Annie is so ready to move out of the shelter and into a loving home. We think she would enjoy a fenced yard and another dog in the home to help with her confidence. Think Annie might be the dog for you? Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process. *** Email [email protected] for next steps! • All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots. • We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting. • You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF. • We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs. • Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences. • We do request vet and personal references. • We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
