Artemis

Artemis is a 14-pound, 9-year-old pure white Chihuahua looking for someone to love. Her primary characteristic is affectionate. She wants to be wherever you are. If there is a lap, she wants to be sitting beside it or, better, with paws on it. Should you be sitting watching TV and forget to pet her, she will remind you! From time to time, she wants to crawl into your lap, put her paws on your shoulders in a hug and snuggle into your neck. Artemis has her manners down. She is house-trained (but definitely expect accidents until she gets used to the routine of your house. There has been no need to crate-train her because she is totally non-destructive. She sleeps on a chair beside the bed, though every now and again she sneaks into the bed in the middle of the night while Foster Dogmom is sleeping. She is not a barky dog. She LOVES car rides. Open your house door leading to the garage and she will shoot out before you can stop her, ready to get in the car—even if you’re just taking out the trash! Artemis lives in a foster home with 4 puppies and 3 dogs, and she gets along with everybody. She loves to play with puppies. Her favorite game is King of the Hill, where she sits on a couch above them and swats down at them. She also loves doing zoomies around the yard with the other dogs: I’m chasing you! No, you’re chasing me! She would do very well in a home with another dog. When we had her spayed, the vet also removed some warts and a broken tooth. The patches you see in the photograph are places where the fur was shaved off and hasn’t completely grown back yet, but it will. Artemis needs a home where somebody is in the house most or all of the time. She would do well with older children. She had been in the shelter for some time when we got her because her owner died and no one in the family could take her. She is such a beautiful, affectionate girl and deserves all the love she desires. Artemis’ adoption fee is $225 and includes spay, all shots & microchip. She is heartworm-negative and on heartworm medication.
