My Story

Atlas – 1 year old, located in Ohio PRO ID: 241161-P-D-TN Intake Date: 10/5/24 Available Date: 12/10/24 Atlas is a lovable dog with a lot of potential that never got a fair chance. He is approximately 1 year old and very affectionate. He has come a long way with being touched but still has some trust issues. He’s a very typical puppy. When he was rescued by PRO he had spent much of his life malnourished and neglected. He’s now gotten used to being fed a proper diet, consistent love, and quality time with other dogs. So far, Atlas has started recognizing his name and basic commands such as “come.” He is very food motivated. He’s made some progress with potty training and redirection. Atlas would be a great dog for agility training, but still needs a lot of work on leash training and not using his mouth inappropriately. He does take treats and hand-served food gently, though. Due to his energy, at this point he would not be ideal for a home with young children. He is extremely birdy, so I would not suggest a home with small animals, either. He has great potential to be a wonderful hunting dog with the right training to help with his anxiety around loud noises. Atlas loves other dogs and a home with other younger dogs would be ideal. My older dogs tolerate his youthfulness and playing, but he can be a bit too much for them sometimes. He did well for his first bath and was just a little nervous about it. He did very well with getting his nails done and at the vet’s office so far, where everyone loves him. Atlas would do great with a family that would commit to continue his training, where he can continue to blossom. He is microchipped, neutered and up to date on his vaccines and heartworm prevention.
