My Story

Looking for a friend for your dogs? Audrey may be your gal! She does great with small dogs she can play with; she's very playful. She likes cats too. She's very food motivated which will help with training. She is gentle when taking treats. She's doing well with potty training, but she still has accidents if she is in the house too long. She's playful with toys; the picture of her with a toy is her favorite toy and this will go with her to her new home. Audrey came to us from a hoarding situation, so the number of animals far outweighed the number of people. This means that Audrey's comfort is with other animals and not people. This is not to say that she won't eventually make a bond with whomever she lives with, but it does mean that Audrey is still learning to trust people, so if you are looking for a dog that you will immediately be able to pet, cuddle, and love on keep searching. Also, she will be a flight risk until she has settled in to a new home so extra precautions will need to be made if you decide to take a chance on her. Audrey seems to prefer women over men and she does not understand, and therefore does not trust, children. She is very uncomfortable around them and will bark repeatedly at them if they look at her or get too close to her. Even when she's comfortable with you she feels uneasy when being held and will sit next to you on her own terms. She likes dog beds and will lay next to you in bed if she initiated that she wants to be there. But if you put her next to you, she will just jump down. If you have a quiet, escape-proof home and the patience and time to let Audrey get comfortable and blossom (which is so rewarding and worth the wait) please contact her foster mom, Ashley, at (509) 954-4646 to learn more about her.
