AXEL is a one-year-old male German Shepherd. He currently weighs 70 lbs. He came to us from a family who simply accumulated too many dogs. He is very handsome and has an excellent temperament.
He is in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program where he just continues to get excel! German Shepherds are very intelligent dogs and can have a strong drive or work ethic. Some of them must have a job to do! Axel is more laid back and, so far, exhibits a moderate energy level. He is quickly learning his obedience tasks. HIs social skills are also better than most. He is not affected by all the sights and sounds of prison life. He's eager to play with the other dogs. We are all excited to watch his progress over the weeks, and we are sure he'll make an excellent family companion.
His perfect home will have a fenced yard. He's only 1 year and needs the space to run free. We feel children will be fine, preferably older ones that are not in danger of getting knocked over. Families with German Shepherd experience are always appreciated. If you haven't owned one, and you are interested, it is a breed you should educate yourself on.
