My Story

Hi there, I'm Baby Girl Pearl a 3 year old terrier mixed with a little Chihuahua and maybe a dash of Cattle Dog who weighs 20 lbs. I'm a bit shy, but once I get to know you, my sweet and gentle nature shines through. I love the thrill of car rides, feeling the wind in my fur, and exploring new places. I'm also quite playful and curious. I've recently discovered toys, and I'm still figuring out how they work, but they sure are fun! I came from a large hoarding situation in rural Louisiana living outdoors all my life so I'm a country girl at heart learning how to live in an apartment in the big city! My new foster Mommy says I'm a really quick learner and adjusting well. I have already learned how to use the potty pads when I can't go outside and am learning how to walk on leash. I'm now UTD on my vaccinations, microchipped, spayed and much to my surprise am HW negative! I'm just a simple girl looking for a loving home where I can continue to grow, play, and explore. I promise to be the sweetest and most loyal companion. Adopt me, and let's start our adventure together. PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
