My Story

My name is Baxter. I am a 3 year old, 13 lb Rat Terrier mix. The breed is a best guess... Life was pretty good for me up until a few months ago when I was in my backyard and 7 large dogs (from down the street) got through the fence and attacked me. I ended up at a shelter a few hours later by the people who owned me due to the extensive injuries from the attack. I was on the euthanasia list for that afternoon due to the seriousness of the wounds, but Lizzy’s heard about me and picked me up – immediately taking me to the vet. The vet said I had multiple puncture wounds on my body, but the most damage is my back is broken. However, I am starting to walk on my own. It is so exciting. Look at the video. It is wobbly, but I am getting stronger and more steady. It is so much fun to start to walk again. I didn’t think I ever would. I still like other dogs, but am a bit leary of bigger dogs I don’t know at first. I love my people – I crave attention and like to follow them around. I ride great in the car. I think a short, leisurely stroll to continue to strengthen my legs would be fun. Don’t feel sorry for me. Help me continue to improve by adding me as your next family member. I can control my bladder and wait like a good boy to go outside. I sometimes have accidents in the house, but who doesn’t? I would love to have a family of my own with just a small dog or two. Email [email protected] with any questions you have for me. I hope to meet you soon.
