My Story

Beanie is a wonderful, sweet girl. She needed one of her back legs amputated after being hit by a car. She runs fast like a bullet, even with three legs; you would never know.  Bean has an excellent nose. She would be perfect for scent training if you wanted to get into sniffing out truffles or search and rescue. She loves going for walks and does well walking on a leash. She loves to relax and snuggle at home and gets very excited about the outdoors.  This sweet girl is fully potty trained. She has never had an accident inside since we have known her. Bean sits quietly, napping until you get home from work. She also loves car rides and relaxing while you run inside to grab groceries. She does not need a crate in the car or at home. She is very polite, does not beg for food for more than 30 seconds, and then returns to bed. Beanie loves all people. She greets strangers with a wagging tail. She shows zero aggression when a human touches her toys or food. She is great with kids, but due to having only one back leg, only kids that are completely aware of her space and not accidentally crushing her only remaining back leg. No crazy, high-energy minions allowed. Careful kiddos welcome. She loves any attention available :) Bean will thrive in a home without cats since she likes to chase them. If she goes to a home with other doggies, it must be an experienced pet owner because her last adopter was 22 years old and had Bean for 2 years before getting a new dog. She left them unsupervised with bones and toys all around on the floor. Somewhere along the line, the two dogs started fighting, and the adopter got bit on the hand, breaking a fight apart. This adopter never informed us there were issues, or we would have helped with advice and pointed out possible triggers. She decided to give up Bean rather than her new dog, which she only had for two months. I had Bean here for six months before she was adopted. While with me, she ran around with five other dogs on our 5-acre property.  The rescue that sent her to us in the first place had her running around with another pack of dogs where she fit perfectly and never had trouble. Given the right owners who are genuine animal lovers, Bean will thrive. We hope to find Bean a home with someone who will put her nose to good use and allow her to have a dog friend again, with proper structure and supervision at first. She enjoys having a dog friend and a human companion who challenges her.
