You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bear! She is an absolute sweet and playfully energetic Jack Russell terrier mix, full of puppy enthusiasm! At six months old, Bear loves learning new things, playing ball, and giving lots of love. She is very intelligent and loves attention!
She would thrive as part of an attentive, active family with no young children, or older children who understand boundaries. Bear hasn't had much socialization and is having many first-time experiences. This has led her to be a little cautious, but she has not shown signs of aggression. With lots of love and encouragement, she warms up quickly. The adopter will need to plan to spend some time and have patience as she learns social skills.
She seems to be potty trained if sticking to a consistent schedule. She is also crate trained. She sleeps through the night, after a long day of playing, without any issues. She is new to wearing collar but took easily to a harness and leash for learning how to walk. She takes verbal correction easily such as clicks or firm tones.
Ideally, she needs a fenced yard to run and play ball in, or a large indoor space with lots of structured walks. Her favorite things are running after her ball, squeaking, and "attacking" her squirrel stuffy, while getting positive reassurance. Bear does not bark however she is vocal with dainty, subtle whines.

Bear still needs to be spayed before the adoption can be considered as final. She can go to her permanent home now, but the adopter must be willing to take Bear to one of the rescue's veterinary clinics in Riverview, Orlando, St. Petersburg, or Sarasota for the spay and to get the stitches out.
Bear's adoption fee is $620 and covers all shots including rabies, dewormer, microchip, and spay (which will take place after she is in the adopter's home but paid for by 4LD). The average lifespan for this breed is 15 years. Therefore, Bear's adopter will need to be prepared to care for her for around 14 more years so she will not have to move to a different home.
She is currently being fostered in the Tampa area.
