BENTLEY'S IDEAL HOME WOULD BE ONE THAT HAS A TERRIER EXPERIENCED, MOSTLY-AT-HOME ADULT PRESENT ALTHOUGH A WORKING FAMILY WILL BE CONSIDERED. A FENCED YARD PREFERRED BUT A FAMILY COMMITTED TO FREQUENT LEASH WALKS COULD BE A GOOD FIT. AN EXEMPLARY HISTORY OF VETERINARY CARE IS A MUST, AS IS A COMMITMENT TO BASIC OBEDIENCE TRAINING. IF THE ABOVE DESCRIBES YOU....READ ON!
********************************************
10-month-old "Bentley" is a darling, purebred Westie that was surrendered to our rescue group by a breeder.
Like most young terriers, Bentley is full of energy but also very affectionate with his humans. He enjoys snuggling, giving kisses and taking naps. In his previous home with his breeder, he lived with his canine mom and dad as well as his brother and he does well with other dogs. He could be a good match for a home with another like-sized dog, but he can play rough and likes to test boundaries.
Bentley loves the water and in his previous life, he learned to swim and float on surf boards, however, showers are not to his liking. Bentley rides in a car but doesn’t want to miss anything so is constantly looking out the windows in his car seat, in a crate he tends to be a gymnast enjoying his ride, don’t expect a sleeping pup. Bentley has had limited leash walking, as his former home was a large fenced in area and the pleasures of a pool in warmer weather. As with all Westies, Bentley will need to be groomed on a regular basis and brushed often to avoid matting. Bentley is working on his potty skills and while he understands the process he has had a few accidents but has gone for 6 hours in his x-pen. Even so, his new family must understand that he is a "work in progress" in the potty training department....consistency and patience is a must! He listens and understands basic commands but will benefit from a basic obedience/socialization class.
Bentley is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and receives monthly heartworm and flea-tick preventation. He will be neutered prior to adoption.
Ground travel to foster home in Novi is required to finalize adoption.
