Meet Benny!
Benny is a 3 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix. Benny is blind and will need someone who can offer him the guidance he needs to navigate life. He needs things like making sure he has clear pathways to walk through a house, baby gates on stairs so he doesn’t fall and hurt himself, and making sure he is crated when unattended to keep him safe. He will climb on stairs and furniture etc on his own but he is unable to get off and may fall trying if not monitored. The good part is he LOVES his crate. He is both house and crate trained. He may have an accident or two first few days adjusting to knowing where he should go. It is important that no dogs in the house use pee pads as Benny would have a hard time determining the difference between them and rugs. That being said he already knows to go outside to potty, he would be too confused to change that.
Benny loves everyone he meets. We recommend no young children under 10 as will need to be careful as he can’t see the random toys left out that may be difficult for him to navigate and also ensuring not to scare him by not announcing before being touched etc. Benny likes kids, but we need to make sure Benny remains safe. He adjusted to his foster home very quickly and overall loves to explore and cuddle. He is good with other dogs, but would prefer no dogs that won’t respect his space and would get over excited and accidentally run him over. He is most comfortable around small dogs or big dogs that are calm and won’t run him over. Young rambunctious dogs scare him as they tend to move too quickly for him.
His foster is also a dog trainer and will help his adopter learn how to help Benny adjust to your home.
Benny plays, explores, cuddles and overall an easy and wonderful little guy.
