My Story

Meet Birdie! What a story Birdie would tell us if she could! We think it would be one of resilience and ultimately success. This 8 year old sweetie is super friendly and loving despite what must have been a tough life. Birdie was found living in an abandoned garage in Detroit. She could often be seen playing with other dogs when they were outside. Wary at first, she came to trust our Detroit Pets For Life Director and ultimately jumped in her car to safety. What do we know so far? Birdie is a world-class nap buddy! Whether it’s a quick snooze or a long cuddle session on the couch, she’ll be right by your side, ready to snuggle with you. Birdie’s favorite pastime, besides you? Playing with toys like Kongs and tennis balls! Don’t be surprised when every scattered toy shows up in Birdie’s bed. She collects her own treasure trove waiting for you scatter them again. Birdie thrives on meeting new people during her daily walks—Birdie’s a real social butterfly! Just watch out for those wily squirrels. These fascinating creatures send Birdie wanting to get up close. But at just 49 lbs of possible tug, you got this! When is Birdie happiest? When she’s with people! This affectionate gal is a true people lover and thrives in a home where someone is around to keep her company. Birdie will be your constant companion. Kids? We think she’d be great. Dogs? We think she’d LOVE to have a fellow dog brother or sister. Cats? Probably not. She’s just too excited. Birdie is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention and all other parasite prevention. Are you ready for love??
