My Story

Hi, I'm Birdy! I'm just under a year old and I’m a silly, floppy puppy that is full of energy! I was found wandering along Rampart street by my foster parents and after 4 weeks of bed rest for a badly infected wound on my arm, I am finally ready to see and be seen! I am very athletic! I love to run and jump and play. You’ll often see me doing the zoomies in the yard or chasing a ball. I will do almost anything for a treat. In only a short time I have learned many tricks. Sit, down, stay, shake, play dead, and roll over to name a few! I love meeting new people, walks, and even though I am still learning leash etiquette my favorite thing to do is run next to my foster mom! I am dog friendly but still don’t understand much about socializing so I would do well in a home with a patient dog that would teach me the ropes or as an only dog. I haven’t had a chance to meet a friendly cat or child, but I probably would do best in a home without. I would love to live in an active home where I can get lots of exercise and then snuggle up on the couch. I am up to date on all my shots, heartworm negative, and neutered! 10 things to know about me! 1. Name: Birdy 2. Age: 1 year 3. Weight: 60lbs 4. Sex: Male 5. Breed: Pit Mix 6. Spayed/Neutered: Yes 7. PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
