My Story

Blue Bea is a pretty amazing little gal. She has that perpetual puppy face and thick build that makes her irresistibly adorable. We think she might be the mom to the chocolate 3, Dorthia, Sally Mae and Red. They were all durrrndered to a middle tn shelter, too many dogs? They all exhibit the classic bad breeder behavior. This pictorial spread shares her growth from scared shelter dog to a dog willing to give trust a shot thanks to her foster family. Foster Mom Savanna shares her take on Blue Bea after fostering her this past month. “Here are a couple of pictures from this week. I literally just took the video this morning. Yes that is her usual type of behavior ? She knows her names… Blu, Blue’s Clues, Bluey & Blu-Bell ? She is overall one of the most perfect dogs! She is… ? potty trained 10000% ? crate trained and I mean she will go to the crate every time I tell her to with or without a treat. She only eats in her crate and she gets excited about it! ? leash trained - she was hesitant at first in our driveway but she picked it up so quickly and started enjoying herself! Still alittle unsure of the leashing up process but very curious why everyone else gets so excited about it lol ? sleeping through the night. We do let her watch tv with us and sometimes sleep between us. She is a very heavy sleeper! We do sometimes let her sleep in the crate just to keep it in the rotation. ? THE MOST MISCHIEVOUS LITTLE BOOGER! We don’t leave shoes on the floor anymore… she won’t chew them but she will take BOTH shoes to her crate and hide them under blankets! ? a toy hoarder - must be an instinctual momma thing. She will move the pile of toys from the basket to her crate or a corner. She LOVES her toys and carrying them around for you to see (once she trusts you). Shes not a toy destroyer but has taken 1 toy out of commission ? a ball thief… somehow we continue to get these beagles with ball obsessions but will never return them to be thrown! Koda will walk/stalk them til they drop it. But Bluey has also learned to take the ball thrower… I’m not going to lie; it’s pretty darn cute ? definitely not cute when I have to grab a slimmy ball lol She’s been meeting a lot of “strangers” this last week. (James’s family came over and his sister & boyfriend were in town and stayed with us for the week.) It took her about 30ish minutes to feel comfortable enough to let them pet her. She would walk around them and try to sniff without them knowing. But she eventually was like “well all the other dogs like them so I guess I can too”. She was happy to see us all and get soft pets throughout the week. She’s not a barker or a howler. She is pretty quiet. I’ve only heard her bark twice since she’s been here. We’ve kept her on a diet and she plays a ton! She’s looking really good now and we are surprised she doesn’t have more muscle tone. But we think her skin/coat is just so puppy-like that she probably won’t look “fit”. But she loves to run and play in the yard! She could do well at a dog park once she establishes trust with someone in her new home. It originally only took her 2-3 days to trust me and James and get her new routine down. She hops on the couch now and frequently visits the cat in her lounge spots. She even takes her naps next to me on the couch. Shes overall doing very well! Her ideal home: definitely with another dog that loves to run and play. She matches energy of the dogs around her. She will be such a confident dog if she’s around other confident dogs. She could also do well with kids who are mature and allow her adjustment time. Toddlers are a no. She’s shy but her warm up time to people is shortening. She’s such an attention hog ?” We all love this gal and yes she is special. We are hoping for the fit she needs that will continue her growth and share the love the world has to offer. We are initially looking local to help with the transition. Transport maybe a bit overwhelming. We never wanna see that intake look again. Www.sosbeagles.org for adoption info and to apply.
