My Story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to [email protected] with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Not in VetportDate into Rescue: 10/7/24 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release / puppy that did not sell Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Boo is up to date on vaccines for his age. He was treated for hookworms when he arrived in rescue. His new owners will need to do this at least once more and possibly twice. Weight: 32 lbs and growing - We estimated Boo will be 50 lbs or more when full grown Height: 15 in and growing - We estimated Boo will be est 24" when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No, Boo is not neutered. He will be placed on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to neuter him within 9 months at your cost and provide proof of neuter. Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes - Boo requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. Boo is going to be a large standard. If you do not have a fence, we need to know your plan for off leash exercise a minimum of 3 times per week for at least 1 hour each session. This is a minimum for a large and active standard poodle. What kind of home would be best for me? Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! While our ideal home for puppies has another young dog in it, Boo could be adopted to a home where she is the only dog as long as there is a solid plan for regular socialization a minimum of 4 times per week. Socialization occurs when dogs are off leash and free to be themselves, unencumbered by human restraints (other than the fence that keeps them safely contained). Socialization times would be for instance, inviting a neighbor or friend over with their dog to play in your fenced yard or going to someone else's home to play in their fence yard. Socialization time could be doggy daycare. Socialization time could be a group walk if you include a playtime at the end of it. Training classes do not always include socialization time. Some puppy classes do include a period of time at the end where the dogs can romp and play together. This would be perfectly acceptable. Time can also take place inside the home, it does not have to be an outdoor area, as long as the dogs are free to interact with each other without leashes or other restraints. What is my personality like? Bashful, Spirited and Playful. Boo is an interesting little boy and he is quite new at this whole being a puppy thing. He's awkward at times and acts bashful, but if you throw some treats or baby talk him, he will open right up with open arms! Boo absolutely adores food, so much that he does NOT like to share so it is recommended you feed him alone and not with any of your other pets. Boo is playful and loves dogs of all other sizes and will need another confident, playful, canine companion to keep him company in your home. Boo is easy to please and would be the ideal family dog. He is very intelligent and picks up on things very quickly but will need help with things like leash training and other basic commands / manners. He is a fun, vocal, spunky boy who loves to be outside, play with toys and romp with friends! Boo will benefit greatly from someone who has the time and patience to train and work with him weekly so he can live up to his full potential. He is young and has lots of learning to do, but has already made so much progress with his caregivers here at the farm! His personality is unique and fun and is is a blast to just sit and watch him play and be himself. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly, though a bit shy at first. Other tips and tidbits: Boo was born on 05/03/24. He has a beautiful, natural tail! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
