Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Date into Rescue: 2/10/2025
Reason for being in rescue: Boomer was retired from his breeder.
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Boomer is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 2/19/25 he had a dental polishing. Boomer is not hypoallergenic and will shed. He is registered with both the Continental Kennel Club (CKC) and the American Kennel Club (AKC).
Weight: 12 lbs
Height: 12 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $349
Fence needed? No, but he'd really be better in a home with a physically fenced yard. Boomer knows absolutely nothing about leashes and doesn't think much of them so far.
What kind of home would be best for me? Boomer is looking for a home where someone is around most of the day. Whether you're single, a couple, or a family, he'll be happy as long as he gets plenty of attention. He's great with people of all ages-whether you're a senior or have children over 8 years old, Boomer will fit in perfectly. He would thrive in either an apartment or a house, as long as he's surrounded by love.
Boomer enjoys being around other dogs-large or small-he NEEDS another dog or two in his new home. He will benefit from having one or two furry companions to learn from. He also loves having playmates which will help him burn off his energy in a positive way. Plus, since Boomer isn't fond of being leashed, a fenced-in yard would be ideal for him to safely play and explore.
What is my personality like? Meet Boomer, a charming black and tan purebred Dachshund, released from a breeder and registered with both the Continental Kennel Club (CKC) and the American Kennel Club (AKC). He's a little dog with a lot of personality, and he's ready to find his forever home!
This little guy knows what he likes and dislikes and won't hesitate to let you know. Boomer likes, no, he LOVES to crawl into your lap for loving. Don't worry, he returns the loving with rapid fire kisses! On the other hand, Boomer hates being leashed and fights like a marlin that's hooked by a deep-sea fisherman. When you do carry him, he prefers being continually snuggled.
Boomer is a smart little guy, but he will need some leash training (remember he hates leashes) and basic command work. With consistency, patience, and plenty of treats and praise, Boomer will learn quickly and form an unbreakable bond with his new owner. He's eager to please, especially when there's a chance for some snuggling afterward!
Boomer loves other dogs and is always ready to play with them. He has a loving heart for all but takes a minute to warm to new dogs and people. If you're ready for a loving, playful companion and willing to work on his training, Boomer is ready to make you his best friend for life!
How do I act when I first meet new people? While Boomer takes a little time to warm up to new people and situations, once he gets comfortable, he's the ultimate lap dog. He'll happily shower you with kisses and affection, though if you come at him with a leash in hand, be ready for a chase!
Other tips and tidbits: Boomer was born on 9/5/2022.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
